Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the central government spends thousands of crores every year to alleviate poverty of the rural poor. But in this scheme, the corrupt money flowed beyond the panchayat presidents, panchayat clerks and block development officers to the district panchayat administration.
To put an end to this, Paruthicherry Raja, coordinator of the Green Environment Protection Movement, has written a letter to the central and state governments. He had demanded that a biometric system should be introduced to ensure the attendance of 100-day employment scheme employees through fingerprint registration at the workplace.
Based on that request, this scheme has now been implemented and for this, Paruthicherry Raja thanked the central and state governments. Moreover, there is no doubt that the Director of Panchayats Ponniah will give importance to preventing irregularities in the Panchayats after the arrival. Whatever field he goes to, he will come out with a special stamp in that field. It was only after his arrival that the biometric system was introduced in this 100-day work programme.
How about this? The public may also think that this scam has run into lakhs and crores. This means that the panchayat president’s dependents, their relatives, their families, all of them do not come to work and this money goes to their accounts. When I told this to an assistant director of panchayats in Tiruvallur, he said that there is no chance of this money going directly to the accounts of the beneficiaries. I said, I heard about it then.
In fact, a friend (Block Development Officer) told me that a District Collector had asked me to give a commission of seven percent of this money. The AIADMK regime, that mother’s husband is the one who ensures all the contract bosses. After that, the mother filed a complaint with the Central Vigilance of the people of Tiruvallur district and Edappadi Palanisamy threw him out.
Social activist Paruthicherry Raja should be appreciated by the villagers for bringing biometric system in this 100-day work programme and putting an end to corruption. Because, in fact, his public service has done this without any expectations. Thus, the purpose for which the central and state government has brought this scheme, its beneficiaries will now benefit.
Further, the audit of every panchayat administration and the accounts of the local body administration is being rectified through these fake accounts. To prevent this, the auditors team headed by CA graduates should verify the accounts. Now every panchayat president is roaming around the town thinking that the panchayat is the work of dividing the public property and the public can be scared by showing the body to eat those public property.
Because people will go away looking at the body, but no one will question us. If you ask such a question, there will be 20 or 30 drunkards in every town anyway. Therefore, on behalf of the villagers, we are aware that the panchayat administration will now be able to solve the corruption at the higher level by complaining to the higher authorities.
What is the quality of the work of engineers and district engineers working in the Block Development Office? Are these jobs given to panchayat presidents, relatives or their favourites? makkaladhikaram magazine has repeatedly said that a separate team should be formed to study all this.

Therefore, I am reminded that the makkal adhikaram Magazine has been constantly urging the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Central Government to implement this matter to the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Central Government that all the accounts to be informed to the villagers every month should be updated online to prevent the irregularities in the Panchayats.
