Tamil Nadu government suspends teachers who protested against old pension of primary education teachers

Virudhunagar: The Joint Action Committee of Elementary Education Teachers’ Movements held a one-day token strike and demonstration demanding 31 demands, including the implementation of the old pension, payment of salaries to secondary grade teachers at par with central government teachers and the repeal of GO 243.

Primary School Teachers Alliance district secretary Selvaganesan presided over the function. Primary School Teachers’ Alliance district secretary Saravana Kumar and Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Alliance district secretary Alagraj spoke on the occasion. Primary School Teachers Alliance district president Rajesh proposed vote of thanks.

Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers’ Alliance district president Shanmugam presided over the function. The CPS system should be abolished and the old pension should be implemented. Secondary grade teachers should be paid at par with the central government teachers. More than 500 primary school teachers took part in the one-day token strike on behalf of Tito Jack yesterday to press for 31 demands, including the repeal of GO 243. Of the total 2,406 teachers in the district, 993 teachers were absent.
