New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir has been repeatedly targeted by foreign powers since Independence.
Also, those doing family politics started undermining this beautiful state. These political parties, which you trusted, did not care about your children. Those political parties only raised their own children. The youth of Jammu and Kashmir were victims of terrorism. The political parties that promote family politics are misleading you and are not allowing new leaders to emerge in any part of Jammu and Kashmir.
As you are well aware, no panchayat election has been held here since 2000. The family political parties here are not allowing the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to progress. That is why, after coming to power in 2014, I tried to bring a new leadership of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2018, panchayat elections were held here. The 2018 response PDC elections were held. Elections were duly held in 2020. Why were these elections held? Democracy in Jammu and Kashmir is reaching the grassroots because of these elections.
“You will remember that unannounced curfew was in force in Jammu and Kashmir in the past and even the Home Minister of the Congress government at the Centre was afraid to go. Also, the BJP government has opened various schools and colleges in Jammu and Kashmir for the betterment of the youth.
The long-pending demand of setting up a medical college in Doda was recently fulfilled by the BJP government. There was a time when the youth here were forced to go to other states of the country for better education. If the BJP comes to power in the state, lakhs of new jobs will be created here. Youth going to college will also be given travel allowance.
It will be a terror-free tourist’s paradise. The BJP is going to create such a Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP government at the Centre is strengthening the transport network here to further expand tourism and make it easier for you to travel. Each family has free treatment cover of up to Rs 5 lakh. The BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir has promised to increase it to seven lakh.
It has also announced that it will deposit Rs 18,000 annually in the bank account of the eldest daughter of the family. Apart from this, farmers get Rs 6000 under the Prime Minister’s Fund. Now it has announced to increase it to 10,000,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
