The media departments of the central and state governments have converted journalism into a circulation department. I mean, is this a news industry? Or the circulation department?
If you are a news department, you have to give importance to news. Here, the emphasis is on circulation. News is a must! It is intertwined with people’s lives, political administration, politics and political parties. This is the nucleus. Is journalism the only circulation of newspapers?
Why is it constantly insisting on makkal adhikaram here? If so, should journalism clearly analyze the articles of a newspaper, news for social purpose, on what basis? Circulation is the ability to show circulation in government advertisements, offers, and circulations. That’s not talent.
Talent is for a social purpose, to reveal the truth to the people, this is the purpose of real journalism. Leave it alone and call it circulation. Do the press officials know what the situation of the newspapers that are showing circulation today is in the beginning? Don’t you know? I have written many times in People’s Power magazine.
Dinamalar was once a newspaper that was sold in tea shops for free. The truth about journalism was told by those who worked at the time. Now it has become a circulation magazine? Government advertisements, support from the central and state governments, this is not a big deal. Circulation, I repeat.
On behalf of the Federation of Social Welfare Journalists and on behalf of the makkal adhikaram Magazine, we demand that changes should be brought in based on the quality of news, quality of news and social purpose of the Central and State Government Newspapers. Because there are reports that the Tamil Nadu government is changing the news industry. It is a necessary one. If that change is brought in on the basis of circulation, it will be for the corporate and not for the social welfare press.
It is also said that the online magazine brought by the central government should have about 50 lakh visitors daily. There are certainly no people who see or read the news. The reason is that news is a matter of brief understanding. It is unlikely that a newspaper has 50 lakh visitors every day. It will not be for news or social purpose. Maybe they are youngsters who are more focused on things like cinema, entertainment and sports. There is no dissenting opinion. Also, is the purpose of news coverage circulating? Or is it the social purpose of quality real news?
Knowing all this, the magazine should be given promotional advertisements and there is no circulation at present. Who is copying 10,000 of this, this law is the wrong law, if there is money, only the person with black money will hit. Is there an emphasis on talent and merit here? No. Is money important? The central and state government’s media departments should clarify.
Is it a phrase for the poor and the middle class to speak on stage? You can’t talk about all this to journalists. We know.
