Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spent more than Rs 8,500 crore on the Godavari-Cauvery water linking project under the ‘Jal Shakti’ scheme in Tamil Nadu, of which more than 50 per cent of the work has been done. It has been reported that it is over. Thus, delta farmers are very happy in Tamil Nadu. The farmers of Tamil Nadu will not have to depend on Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka for water for agriculture and if the project is implemented, the people of Tamil Nadu will have a lot of affection for Modi.Confidence is likely to increase further. There is no doubt that this will increase the farmers’ vote bank for the BJP. Can opposition parties like Congress, Communists, DMK, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal etc do politics with this in Tamil Nadu? They will look for it. But those who know politics know that Modi will let them run into it.
