For more than 45 years, journalism has been under one rule of law and there is no development of journalism. There is no progress on social welfare. The Tamil Nadu Social Journalist Federation wants to change the rules according to the times Request . The request has been sent to the Press Council of India through e-mail.
We publish this news to the world of journalism and the general public on the website of People’s Power magazine. The complaint also mentions all the current problems in the field of journalism and the positions of the authorities.
You have said that the Press Council of India has passed the Press Act in Parliament in 1978 and is implementing it. But today, newspaper print media is not bought and read by the public. The reason for this is that people’s desire, demand and utility have declined with the changing times.
People and the younger generation are interested in getting news on the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube etc . In this situation, the daily newspapers are misusing the rule of circulation given through the print media to get concessions and advertisements from the central and state governments. It should be stopped immediately.
Crores of taxpayers’ money is being wasted on the central and state governments through fake audit report accounts. Moreover, irrespective of the seasons of the daily, weekly, monthly, and bi-monthly , what purpose is the paper served? It should be classified. Is it a political party-oriented magazine? Is business a purposeful journal? Don’t deserve to be called journalism? Or have many newspaper reports been copied? There are thousands of such newspapers in every state. Some are running newspapers on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp.
Moreover, only in Tamil Nadu (RNI) they are saying that it is a newspaper. No qualification or quality is required. Moreover, there are thousands of fake people posing as journalists and journalists if they have a government identity card and a press identity card. They are all together saying that it is an association.
Without publishing newspaper reports, they are deceiving the public and the press world by saying that we are also a newspaper . As a result, journalism has lost its reputation and respect among the people. In addition to this, eligible journals, For qualified journalists and qualified journalists, the authorities are the same There is a situation of looking at the model. This is for journalism and social welfare. Opposite.
These are the people Depending on some political party against the community, with those who indulge in crimes They have secretly joined hands. They are also abetting corruption. The Respa Council of India should also take note of this. besides
The central and state governments do not give any concessions and advertisements to the newspapers and journalists who fight for social welfare. This is against the interest of society, the interest of the nation and the freedom of the press. They also say that it is the policy of the Tamil Nadu government to give concessions and advertisements only to the newspapers of its choice in Tamil Nadu. Is policy decision the policy decision of the rulers? Or is it a policy decision of freedom of the press? It is for the Press Council of India to decide.
Also, the central and state governments should stop giving concessions and advertisements to unqualified newspapers including bus passes. Because all this is paid out of the taxpayers’ money. As a result, people do not get the necessary news for the society through these newspapers. Most of the news is from political parties and news that is not important. As a result, the real news that should reach the public is not published.
Also, only those who are Jalra to the rulers, the media of Tamil Nadu is giving privilege and advertisements, this should be changed. Also, in the Tamil Nadu Journalists’ Welfare Board, only those working in corporate newspapers and television have been given importance and have been members and officials. It is against freedom of press. Also, is this welfare board only for corporate press and television? Or is there no place for social interest journalism and journalists?
Also, to what extent does a newspaper now have to consider the quality of its news, truthfulness, social welfare and national interest? Which TVs? News and articles are being published! The central and state governments should give importance to it. There should be no political interference. Political interference is always against the freedom of the press. It has been many years since the freedom of the press was lost in Tamil Nadu. What the rulers say has become a newspaper.
Therefore, according to the times, according to the practices, according to the lifestyle of the people, today’s press law rules should be changed in the Press Council of India. Also, the press must be for the benefit of this nation, for the unity of the nation, and for the welfare of the society, not for the self-interest of the rulers, for the self-interest of the political parties, and for the business of the press. Today, the freedom of the press is the privilege of the press. The Press Council of India said that many thousands of crores of taxpayers’ money is being wasted on advertisements in a wrong way. , I state this fact and allegation.
Also, so far the central and state governments do not give any kind of government bus pass privilege or advertisements to the newspapers which are fighting for the welfare of the society, for the welfare of this nation, and against corruption. Due to this, business-oriented newspapers, political party-oriented newspapers, and newspapers that are the Jalra of the rulers, which are confusing the people without the truth and real news of the country reaching the people, what is the truth for the people? Which is a lie? They are confused without knowing that.
Moreover, they are misusing this rule by showing the circulation of people’s taxpayers’ money. But social welfare magazines and journalists running the magazine with their own money and this circulation cannot be shown by them. How long is the reason? The social welfare press run by the common people is struggling to get the truth to the people in large numbers with their own money and their own labour.
It is against the freedom of the press, the development of this country, the development of society, and the freedom of opinion of the people. Moreover, such mistakes on the one hand and on the other hand millions of people’s tax money are being wasted for the welfare of the people and the welfare of this nation. This should be systematically studied and implemented. There should be no political interference in this. Officials act as the agents of the rulers.
Therefore, under the leadership of an honest judge, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) should work together to ensure the quality of IAS officers, IPS officers and the press in every state. Only then will there be freedom of the press, real news, news in the interest of the nation, news for the welfare of the people, how many newspapers are publishing? Bus passes, concessions, advertisements should be given only for that.
How has it gone beyond the norm of circulation, to the internet and its dependent Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, and all of it, to people’s attention every day? should be taken into account. Besides, every magazine in circulation is being cheated by showing fake accounts (auditor report). How much was sold? How much was printed? How much is the return? Its bank account will not have any account.
Also, what is the benefit to the people of the news published by these daily newspapers? What good is this community? What is the good for the country? What is the quality of those messages? If all this is studied, the concessions and advertisements given to those newspapers are unnecessary. Therefore, the quality of news of a newspaper, the quality of truth, the social motive, all these should be analyzed and the circulation of the people’s tax money to the party-based, business-oriented newspapers. The Central and State government’s media departments are wasting crores of taxpayers’ money by misusing the rules.
The Press should immediately stop it and give priority to the social welfare press and journalists and for the freedom of the press and the growth of the press in the interest of this national interest. President of Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Journalists Federation demands to amend the rules of the Council of India.
The Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Journalists Federation has thanked the Press Council of India through this letter.
