Crores of projects are being implemented in the local bodies of the country. What are those plans? Which one? People don’t even know that. The main objective of the Local Self Government is that it should be a body that can communicate directly to the people.

But the purpose for which the law was brought so far has failed. Therefore, the central and state governments should appoint a committee of social activists in every village, town and town panchayat. This appointment should be headed by the District Collector.

In every village, there should be a monitoring committee of these village social activists and only those who are eligible for this should be included in this 10-member committee. First of all, retired IAS, IPS, judges, journalists, retired army officers, social activists, etc. should be included. It should not include members of any political party, organization or association.

These eligible persons village, district, state there is no doubt that the purpose of this will be useful to the people. If these social activists appoint a monitoring committee, what are their projects in each village? What’s going on? They should be given the right to supervise everything in the accounts and accounts. Not only that, not a single village has so far held a Gram Sabha meeting as per the said rules.

This social activist monitoring committee will create a time when people will have to ask questions properly and the panchayat administrators will have to answer them directly. They do not respect the people and do not protect public property, they are only intent on looting. It is as if they have come to the village to do business. These vendors will be monitored by a monitoring committee of social activists in every village, town panchayat and every municipalities.

On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Journalists Federation and the makkal adhikaram Magazine, the main demand is to the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Central Government that the Central and State Governments should implement this Act. This will benefit crores of people. No arbitrary power can be taken away by any village panchayat functionaries.

In every process, activists will certify the monitoring team, if it is correct. Otherwise, the bill should not be passed. Also, the engineers have to calculate the percentage of the quality of work done in the respective village and certify. If this is the case, more than 90 per cent of the corruption in the local body can be put to an end.

If the DMK and the BJP government do this! I request the social activists in every area to follow this and make this request to the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Central Government. If the central and state governments fail to do so, I hope the matter will be resolved through the courts.
