When TTV Dhinakaran won the Lok Sabha from this constituency about 10-15 years ago, the people of the constituency said that there was no village in the constituency that did not do any special social work to release overhead water in his name from his constituency fund and personal funds.
TTV Dhinakaran is very well known in Theni constituency and this constituency is dominated by people from Mukkulathor, Thevar and Maravar communities. DMK candidate Thanga Tamilselvan is contesting against him. He was the propaganda secretary of AMMK.
The people of the constituency say that he has gone to many parties and is flying like a political party bird. Moreover, it was given to him without giving it to the seniors in the DMK, which is also said to have internal party problems. Thus, the DMK will even vote for TTV Dhinakaran.
