Tiruppur district is an important district for fakes. Here in the press, even if it is a politician, there are many fakes, frauds, people from other countries use Tirupur to assemble.

Tirupur: The Tirupur police are interrogating a middleman who allegedly forged 100 Aadhaar cards in the last four years to facilitate Bangladeshis to enter the temple without proper documents.

Marimuthu (43), a broker from Tirupur, was arrested for making a fake Aadhaar card. Investigations revealed that he had been procuring identity cards including Aadhaar for several years without any documents.

According to the Tirupur city police, Marimuthu, who visits the Tirupur Corporation office every day, has written petitions to many people. Subsequently, he established a close relationship with the officials and prepared Aadhaar cards for those coming to Tirupur without any documents. For this, he received between Rs 3,000 and Rs 7,000.

He has attached a letter from a government doctor in Palladam to attach the residence proof required for Aadhaar. He charged a hefty amount for getting Aadhaar for Bangladeshi nationals. Marimuthu has got more than 100 Aadhaar cards in the last four years. We are investigating the matter. We are also planning to take custody of Marimuthu, who is lodged in the Tirupur sub-jail.

Employees of the e-Seva Kendra said, “Many things have been updated on the internet regarding getting an Aadhaar card. No one can get an Aadhaar card so easily. Aadhaar card is issued with a voter ID card, bank account and residence proof. Only the voter ID card document can be verified. Other documents are not likely to be verified.

Aadhaar centre employees are on consolidated pay. Since they work permanently in the same place, they can work with brokers. Only if they are transferred to other places at least once a year can malpractices be prevented. In the Marimuthu case, there may be many others. The truth will be known if we inquire from the government doctor who issued the residence certificate.”

City Police Commissioner Lakshmi said, “The Aadhaar cards were obtained using forged documents. We are investigating to find out to whom Marimuthu got Aadhaar cards. We will also interrogate the government doctor who gave the residence proof to Aadhaar,” he said.
