A division bench of Justices N Satish Kumar and P Karunanidhi was hearing a petition filed by MDMK general secretary Vaiko and others seeking removal of seemai karuvel trees in Tamil Nadu. The bench comprising Bharatha Chakravarthy and others came up for hearing in the Madras High Court yesterday.
Advocate Srinivasan, who appeared on behalf of the government, said that from February 2024 to 2025, Rs 2.37 crore 71,000 has been spent on the removal of seema karuvel trees.

The judges expressed anguish over the government spending money to remove seemai karuvel trees and said that if the tree is given to private parties, the government will get revenue. “Last year, the Madras High Court had ordered public auction for the removal of seema karuvel trees from 2022 and the order has not been implemented so far,” the bench said.
They also warned that if the Tamil Nadu government does not issue a public auction notice by April 25 to remove the karuvel trees across Tamil Nadu, the court will issue a notice for the auction and the officials who act against this order will face contempt of court proceedings.
The matter was taken to the Madras High Court two years ago. News in this regard has been published in the makkal adhikaram magazine and website. The villagers of Vidayur village complained to the Tiruvallur District Collector and the concerned authorities about the loss of funds, but no action was taken and the public did not get justice due to bribery.

For social welfare magazines like us, it was a failure, but this news was published in makkal adhikaram magazine and I asked our lawyer to take the book to the judges. It was only then in 2022 that the judges ordered that such a public auction be notified for the removal of the karuvel tree.
Therefore, on behalf of the makkal adhikaram Magazine, on behalf of the website, our heartfelt appreciation has been ordered to end the massive corruption in the villages. Moreover, from the meeting of panchayat leaders who cheated the public on the one hand, the loss of funds to the government on the other and the court on the other hand, the meeting that ran the export business of the karuvel tree can no longer be deceived. Such an incident happened two years ago!

Ramesh, an engineer of the Water Resources Department, and a meeting of panchayat leaders who auctioned a karuvel tree in two lakes spread over 300 acres in Vidayur village of Tiruvallur district for just Rs 50,000 have put an end to such fraudulent activities. Moreover, the villagers are no longer suffering from this problem. besides
Anyone can bid in public time. Whoever pays the highest amount will now own the auction.
