Two government schools in Chennai have been accused of conducting spiritual discourses in the name of spiritual discourse. Investigations are being intensified in this regard. Mahavishnu who was involved in this matter returned to Chennai from Australia today (07.09.2024). Following this, the Saidapet police arrested Mahavishnu from the airport on the complaint of making derogatory remarks against the differently-abled.

Subsequently, a case was registered against Mahavishnu at Saidapet police station under sections 192, 196(1)(a), 352, 353(2) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – 2023 Act and Section 92(a) under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Following this, Mahavishnu was produced before the Saidapet magistrate. He has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days till September 20.

Meanwhile, a screenshot of the Facebook page of Shankar, a differently-abled teacher who denounced Lord Vishnu in a government school in Chennai, is being shared with the name of a Christian. In this case, the Tamil Nadu Fact Finding Committee has given an explanation on this. “This is completely untrue. The Facebook page ‘Anthony Fernando’ being shared on social media is not that of Shankar. A person named ‘Anthony Fernando’, who was constantly criticizing Maha Vishnu’s speech in a government school in Chennai, has changed his photo to his profile picture yesterday (06.09.2024) praising teacher Shankar for condemning Maha Vishnu. So don’t incite religious hatred. Do not spread rumours.”
