Discussing Gram Panchayat Administration and Expenditure of Public Funds, Audit Report of Gram Panchayat, Discussing Ensuring Clean Water Supply, Online Tax Payment Service, Online Layout and Building Permit through Internet, Issue of Consent for Residential Buildings on Self Certification through Instant Registration, etc. Why didn’t you bring it to public view on the website? Is this politically motivated?
The Collector said that the meeting should discuss the Tamil Nadu Simplified Panchayat Account (TNPASS), Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board, Biodiversity Management Committee, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), ODF Plus Rising Village, ODF Plus Model Village, Jal Jeevan Mission and other items.
Collector Uma said that this Grama Sabha meeting has been held continuously for so many years to bring transparency in the administration in the village panchayat. But in which village are such discussions taking place? In Tamil Nadu, Namakkal District Collector Uma has issued a press release saying that at least these issues should be discussed. In that regard, the villagers should thank him.
Also, is the Gram Sabha functioning properly in the Village Panchayats? Or do people not have the right to ask questions? In some villages, you can see in newspapers and television that the Grama Sabha meeting is being held in name without this meeting. Is this me?
In order to prevent such issues from being discussed and exposed in this meeting, 99 percent of the Grama Sabha meetings in Tamil Nadu are held with the panchayat presidents, drunkards, thugs around them, katta panchayat meetings.
The Grama Sabha meeting is going on in Tamil Nadu without knowing the meaning of the Grama Sabha meeting. The higher authorities have not taken any action in this regard so far. Moreover, if social activists ask questions, false cases are filed with the police, there are quarrels and problems, such a situation has been in most of the villages, till date, in the Grama Sabha meeting.
There is no doubt that the meaning of the Grama Sabha meeting will reach those villages only if the District Collectors take steps to prevent all this in Tamil Nadu. Will the Block Development Officers (BDOs) take the full video of the Gram Sabha from each village to the District Collector to put an end to this problem? – Social activists.
