Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been accused by the Opposition of targeting the Enforcement Directorate, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department.
Responding to this, PM Modi said, “Enforcement Directorate raids and arrests are going on in various states across the country in the recent past. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have been arrested. Opposition parties have been accusing the BJP government of invoking the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to cripple the opposition.

In an interview to a private news channel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “You are misusing agencies like CBI, Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department. “You are being accused of using these things to crush the opposition,” Modi said, “Let’s talk about the Enforcement Directorate.
Was the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) drafted by us? Moreover, E D is an independent system that works independently. We don’t stop it. They don’t throw anything at anyone. It is the scales of the courts that judge and judge its functioning. We have no direct connection with the ED. The ED now has around 7,000 cases of which less than three per cent are related to politicians.
Ten years ago, during the Congress regime, the ED had seized Rs 35 lakh. But the ED has seized Rs 2,200 crore in this regime, what does it mean? The raids of this organization are not known to anyone outside. That’s why this money is caught. Money is caught in bundles on these rides.
The money was stashed in the washing machine and in the pipes that carry water to the house. Rs 300 crore stolen from Congress MP’s house Bags of cash were seized from the house of a minister in West Bengal. Are the people of the country ready to tolerate all this? Whose money is this? People need to understand this truth.
Also, the money collected from the people by saying that I will buy the driver’s mouth and I will get the job of a teacher. I have been asking for some legal remedies in this regard, can all those who gave them money, return all that money to them? I’m trying. We have already returned Rs 17,000 crore of the money we seized.
Once we get the result of this search, we return the money to the person who is involved, from where this money came from. People appreciate it. The ED is the same for everyone, whoever it is, the same procedure is the same. Can you give us an example that we have closed this case? The ED cannot suo motu prosecute.
If a case is registered with any organization in the country, then the ED can register a case and take action. More than 150 cases have been filed to nullify the PMLA Act. Everything is pending in the Supreme Court. They are using the court as a weapon to prevent the ED from working. Because they know that Modi’s action against corruption will not stop, that is why they are looking to stop the ED from working through the courts,” he said.
