In every district, reservation blocks have been in existence continuously for 50 years. I mean, there aren’t the people they were 50 years ago. There were no speeches or mannerisms they spoke. There is no style, no dress, no food, no habits, everything has changed.
But should this law remain the same? Is this the biggest question for other communities? Also, I know that from the day Venugopal contested the Lok Sabha election from Tiruvallur (SC) AIADMK and lost, it has been the same. Do we need development only for the depressed classes here? Don’t people from other communities need development? Laws should be general. If it is biased, it is not acceptable. That’s how it has been with all these laws. Not only that
Even the laws that were passed in the field of journalism have remained the same for 50 years, but today journalism has made many developments. Contains changes. But the same law has been in place for 50 years and social welfare journalists demand that such laws be scrutinized.
Tiruvallur Lok Sabha constituency
Similarly, other communities say that it is wrong to continue this separate constituency reservation. Therefore, other communities are of the opinion that this should be examined by the Election Commission. Even though it is a separate constituency, other communities are voting for the BJP today. But will the Depressed Classes vote for even one per cent? It is doubtful.
After the counting of votes is over, the Patils will vote for which party in the reserved constituencies across Tamil Nadu? You can even say that it is their right to vote for any party. But what is the merit of these candidates? Do they consider and vote? Irrespective of which party is contesting in separate constituencies, only Scheduled Caste people are fielded as candidates.
Even then, they do not vote for any party other than AIADMK and DMK. Apart from this, the candidates of the general constituency do not care about them even if they win from their own community. The other community is angry that they have done nothing for the society.
That being the case, if the Scheduled Castes continue to come to separate constituencies, will other communities vote only for them? Or don’t they need welfare for their development? Is this the biggest question in other societies? Also, if it is a reservation once, it should be changed to a general constituency the next time, it can be once in two or three times. But how will other communities thrive if they continue to do the same? This is the painful question of other societies today? Therefore, the demand of other communities to the EC is that the laws should be changed according to the times.
