The Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Journalists Federation has been demanding that the BJP government at the Centre should reform the old laws and give concessional advertisements to the common press.
We have been continuously reiterating this message to the central and state governments for more than five years in the makkaladhikaram magazine. In such a situation, GST is being brought in to prevent the common man from running newspapers. You said GST is GST for those with income above Rs 20 lakh. Now the publishers who run this magazine and those who own the printing press are saying that GST is important.
Apart from this, the court order that any advertisement can be published only if the advertisement is signed by the advertiser, the advertising agency and the press industry, copied and reuploaded and certified to publish the advertisement, it is clear that this is a law to destroy all these newspapers.
Moreover, the corporate companies have earned crores of rupees by advertising concessions by the central and state governments. But these common people bring such a GST without giving any concessionary advertisements to the newspapers, getting a certificate in the advertisement, which is a strict legal rule. The central government is making a big mistake.
Moreover, for the benefit of this society, their hooliganism, corruption, creating awareness about politics among those who do not know politics, good ideas, true news, are the press laws they have indirectly brought to reach the people.
Is this a law for many newspapers and television channels that whiten Black Money? Or does this law apply to newspapers run by common people like us? Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting should clarify this to us. Will Tamil Nadu Minister of State for Information L Murugan clarify?
Also, there are people who have disappeared after running a newspaper for social welfare. In such a situation, if the central government is bringing such laws in the country, then it is the newspaper of the country! It’s corporate. They listen to whatever we say, all they need is business, so they don’t have to worry about people’s welfare. Just as politics has become a business, these newspapers also see business as important. So, it’s the people who need to wake up. besides
There is no other option but to protest against these laws. Moreover, when so many crores are being given to corporate newspapers and television channels for their development, why can’t they give to these newspapers? There is no social justice in the press. Therefore, the court should intervene immediately. This is a danger to democracy.
Also, is there freedom of the press in the country? Isn’t it? It is questionable that only the court can intervene and put an end to the laws of the rulers who transgress the limits, and when the corporate press companies are given concessions and advertisements on one side, why not give it to the eligible press?
It’s all politics! If you are giving promotional advertisements for the growth of those papers, why not give it to them? Moreover, it is dangerous for democracy to keep the power in hand and question the freedom of the press and the press. The demand of social welfare magazines and journalists is that Supreme Court Justice Chandra Sood should intervene and find an immediate solution.
We will write to Chief Justice of India Chandra Sood on behalf of People’s Power and Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Journalists Federation. “I have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and President moor Mu, urging journalists and the press to express their concerns,” he said.
