Palmyrah tree is the cultural identity of Tamils. If the government removes the palm tree, the wildlife warden has been instructed to submit a report by planting 100 parts of the palm tree.
Accordingly, seven palm trees that were obstructing the construction of cement road in Neermulai panchayat of Thalaignayiru union in Nagapattinam district have been removed.
Further, the approval of the District Green Committee meeting held at the Nagapattinam District Collectorate on March 13 was that the palm trees in the public places of Tamil Nadu, which were hindering the road construction, should be uprooted and planted in an alternative place without affecting it.
If not, the Nagapattinam District Wildlife Warden has instructed to plant 700 palm saplings for seven palm saplings at the rate of one palm sapling and submit a report on the photographs of the saplings of the planted place.
The panchayat administration did not care about it and uprooted seven saplings and burnt them. Green Eco Protection Movement Chief Coordinator Paruthicherry Raja and Coordinator Arun Umanath visited it in person.
The Green Environment Protection Movement has urged the Nagapattinam District Collector to order the plantation of 700 palmyrah saplings in Neermulai Panchayat at the rate of 100 per cent.
